HALSTEAD—The grand total raised in the Halstead Pennies campaign was $109.37. Businesses around town had collection boxes out throughout February for residents to donate their loose change to United Way.

“We sincerely appreciate the many contributions made by Halstead residents in both the penny drive and the numerous other direct gifts from businesses and private donors,” said Harvey County United Way Director Tina Payne. “All of those donations stay in the Halstead community.”

This will benefit an estimated 165 residents through agencies receiving Harvey County United Way funds. The largest provider of services to Halstead residents was Health Ministries Clinic. Others include: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Circle of Hope, Grand Central, Heart to Heart, Infant Toddler Program, Safehope, St. Matthew's Representative Payee Program, Offender Victims Ministries, United Cerebral Palsy and USD 373 Latchkey.

About 50 Halstead children enrolled in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program sponsored by Harvey County United Way. Children receive a book in the mailbox monthly from birth to the fifth birthday at no charge to the family. Donations to Harvey County United Way cover the shipping cost of approx $2.10/month/child.
