Adam Conard Hired As New BPS Principal

Posted 2/16/2017

HALSTEAD—The Halstead-Bentley School Board hired Adam Conard to be the new principal at Bentley Primary School next year during their meeting Monday night. Current BPS Principal Larry Hobbs is retiring at the end of this year after 28 years in that position.

Conard is a native to Howard, Kansas. He received a bachelor’s degree from Bethany College and a master’s degree from Fort Hayes State University. In 2005 he began teaching math at Kingman at the upper elementary and middle school levels until two years ago when he took the role of assistant principal at Kingman Elementary School.

Conard has a young family with a couple of kids who will be attending Bentley Primary School next year.

Superintendent Tom Alstrom said Conard would be a good fit for the Primary School.

“He’s got a pretty good demeanor for lower elementary kids,” Alstrom said.

Conard was selected out of 20 candidates. Alstrom said it had been hard to narrow this field down, but he and school administrators had chosen eight candidates to conduct pre-interviews with. From there they selected three finalists, and Conard was selected for the position.
