Officially, County Not Touched By By Flu Bug Yet

With kids out of school and relatives getting together for the holidays, it’s the perfect opportunity to spread colds and the flu. Cold temperatures will also keep people indoors where germs can easily be spread.

Harvey County has no official reports of influenza, yet that does not mean the virus isn’t in the area. Harvey County Public Information Officer Kyle McCaskey said, “We know cases are growing around the region. And influenza is not a mandatory reporting illness.”

Sedgwick County reported three influenza outbreaks just last week.

There is still time to get a flu shot, with the peak flu season still a couple of months away. There are also some preventative measures you can take. The main preventative action, say experts, is hand washing.
